Naming

Originally, MSC Divina was to be christened MSC Fantastica. Nevertheless, the actress Sophia Loren had disclosed to Gianluigi Aponte, MSC’s owner and a close personal friend, that she would one day love to have a ship named after her. It was a wish he instantly fulfilled by suggesting the name Divina, which means ‘divine’. The naming ceremony is scheduled for 26 May 2012 in Marseille, planned, true to the tradition of MSC Cruises, baptized their new ships in a major port for the shipping company.

MSC Divina's itineraries cover Mediterranean ports including Marseille; Bari; Dubrovnik; Katakolon; Pireus; Civitavecchia; Messina; Valletta; Alexandria; Haifa; Ashdod; Izmir; Istanbul; St Nazaire; Lisbon; Cadiz; Gibraltar and Valencia.

Equipment and dimension

The ship is at a length of 333.3 meters and a width of 38 meters at a speed of up to 23.7 knots achieved. With 1739 booths, she has more than 100 cabins from the other two sister ships. As part of the (Modified-Fantasia) Divina class, MSC Divina equipped with two additional elevators and the latest state of art. The naval architect De Jorio Design International also introduce a completely redesigned deck, a restaurant to put accents in comfort. So the MSC Yacht Club is also enlarged and redesigned.
